About Appointed Professionals

There are over 3400 appointed professionals employed at the University of Arizona, with the numbers growing every day. Appointed professionals carry diverse academic and administrative responsibilities throughout the University, and take an active role in shared governance.

• Appointed professionals are benefits eligible employees on year-to-year appointments
• Categorized in University Handbook of Appointed Personnel (UHAP) as Academic Professionals, Service Professionals, or Administrators

• Includes lecturers, researchers, managers, directors, and non-faculty administrators
• No voting rights in the Faculty Senate
• Represented in campus Shared Governance through the Appointed Professionals Advisory Council
